SUPVASANA Goes to the Yuba RIver
When supvasana clients get invited to special opportunities, they jump all over it. We were fortunate to be invited to SUP on the Yuba and man did we have a great time. Newbies and seasoned yogis and paddlers met to discover their abilities in the beauty of rock canyons and rushing water. Pools allowed us to paddle and play in a very special place. Supvasana invites you to let us take you to some wild places in the Sierra.
Shivasana Supvasana Yoga style
When the day is over, and the body needs to rest, we must be sensitive and appreciative to all that our bodies have done for us that day. . Most land studios have a class starting right after your finished. You can hear the next group chatting and getting ready for their practice. With Supvasana Yoga's floating studio, all you hear are birds and the water meeting the edge of your board. When you enlist in a High Country Retreat, you are invited to Shivasana for as long as you'd like. Now, what yoga class has ever given you that kind of offer?
SUPvasana Yoga Mobile
Getting to the back country requires a high clearance vehicle. SUPvasana Yoga tules around in this groovy Subaru cross trek because at 35 miles per gallon....we can visit outrageous places with a lower environmental impact than a larger gas guzzler. Fits 5 folks and 4 boards on top and an inflatable in the back. A rolling Paddle party on wheels! Join us.
Twisted Yogini Sisters
One of the best parts of teaching SUPvasana Yoga in a floating studio, is taking other yoga teachers out for a new and challenging experience. Adding a new dimension to a familiar practice awakens sleeping muscles and a new outlook to an ancient practice.
Paddling Technique, Turns and Strengthing
When you take a class, you will not just paddle around and spend time doing Down Dog. No, when you take a class with SUPvasana Yoga, together we practice how to mount and dismount from the board, turning techniques, paddling alignment, how and when to anchor, and when to advance from simple asana to more advance ones. While falling into the water is no big deal, knowing how to get back on the board is. Just like what not to wear and what you naturally are able to do, or not. SUPvasana Yoga wants everyone's first and last experience doing SUPvasana Yoga to be a good one.
Breathe Life into Every Cell
In Yoga Meditation, breath training is essential preparation for deep meditation and samadhi, on the path to Self-Realization. Breath is the bridge between the body and the mind. Regulate breath, and the body and mind will follow. SUPvasana incorporates Pranayama in every class. We encourage an eyes open practice, to take in the surrounding beauty and creating a new mental screen saver for days later.
Savasana with SUPvasana
Imagine giving you physical body enough time to place every ethereal spark of prana to land in its proper place in the body after a fun and invigorating experience on the water. SUPvasana cultivates a class that allows a deep sense of calm to every organ, every neuron, and every strand of fascia within you. SUPvasana's name was inspired by this Sanskrit name, “Savasana” (shah-VAHS-uh-nuh), which comes from two words. The first is “Sava” (meaning “corpse”), and the second is “asana” (meaning “pose”). Savasana implies a depth of release that goes beyond simple relaxation. Savasana is also a time during your practice when you can connect with your peaceful, innermost self. Now imagine that under a canopy of trees, a sky filled with colors of the setting sun, or shades of deep or bright blue.
